Special Sessions

There will be no general call for contributed talks at this colloquium. The following special sessions will take place on Wednesday afternoon.

NZ Mathematics in Wave Phenomena

There is an active mathematical research community in NZ studying wave propagation phenomena. These span a range of sub-disciplines including acoustics, ocean waves, structural dynamics, electromagnetic waves, gravitational waves and seismology, all of which have wide-ranging practical applications across various areas of science. In this special session, we will find the current state of the community and discuss what the future of theoretical and computational wave science may be. For more details please contact Dr Hyuck Chung.

AUT Mathematical Sciences Symposium

The AUT Mathematical Sciences Symposium is an annual event, hosted by the Mathematical Sciences Research Group in November-December each year since 2014. The academic programme consists talks on various topics including computational and mathematical modelling, financial analytics and mathematics, decision analysis, statistical programming, statistical methodology, and stochastic modelling. In 2020, the symposium will be run as a special session of the 2020 NZMS Colloquium in a virtual format.

Mathematics Education Group Special Session

Online workshops and presentations followed by discussion will be offered on the following topics

It is envisioned the workshops and presentations will be a place for both tertiary lecturers and secondary teachers to interact and share knowledge.

Aitken Prize

This year the Aitken prize will be awarded at the NZMASP conference. More details on this conference can be found here.
